We know that wind and solar are variable and intermittent. We also know that closely placed wind and solar sites can be heavily correlated. Less well known is the fact that combinations of wind and solar can reduce the problems of correlation and variability. Using statistical cumulants along with high resolution power forecasts, VCE® algorithms have the ability to combine different generators to be dispatched within markets as a single entity.
